Malaysia being named the Top Muslim-Friendly Destination of the Year in the 2022

YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Haji Shukri , Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture launched the Mardiyyah Hotel and Suites which received Platinum Category, Muslim-Friendly Accommodation Recognition (MFAR) through Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC).

MFAR scheme introduced by ITC recognised hotels that ensure its business model and daily operations are completely shariah compliant. Muslim-friendly accommodations and facilities like prayer rooms, water-friendly toilets, as well as halal food availability are among the key attributes of an ideal Muslim-friendly destination.

Malaysia is in the position where it has the advantage to leverage on its existing Islamic tourism ecosystem to continuosly brand itself as a Muslim-friendly destination of excellence.

These are some of the contributing factors to Malaysia being named the Top Muslim-Friendly Destination of the Year in the 2022 Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) Report.
