MATTA Fair Unveils Sabah as Malaysia’s Favourite Destination

The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) is pleased to announced Malaysia’s Favourite Destination for MATTA Fair 15 – 17 March 2019 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur is Sabah. In 2015, Sabah was Malaysia’s Favourite Destination for MATTA Fair September 2015 and here for the second time Sabah being a Malaysia’s Favourite Destination for MATTA Fair.

The largest local state government tourist office with 16 booths at the MATTA Fair March 2019, Sabah Tourism Board (STB) will promote variety of local tourism products to MATTA Fair visitors ranging from heritage and culture, scenic island visits, scuba diving, jungle trekking, bird watching, adventure and attractions that are top notch and considered to be good value. This would be a great opportunity for holiday seekers to meet representatives from Sabah Tourism Board and travel agents in Sabah Pavilion for the state’s unique and exciting attractions.

MATTA Fair’s collaboration with Sabah Tourism Board is part of a drive to get more local and international visitors to holiday in Sabah. STB has been very pro-active in attracting more visitors. This includes association with MATTA Sabah Chapter and its members in putting together tour and travel packages promoting Sabah for sustainable and consistent domestic and inbound tourism growth.

Sabah Tourism Board showed their latest figures that there were 3,879,413 million tourist arrivals to Sabah in 2018, up 5.3% from the previous year and Sabah ranks Top 5 Most Visited States in Malaysia by the Tourism Malaysia.

When the growing connectivity with direct, non-stop route to Sabah will boost tourist numbers. 26 international destinations by 12 foreign carriers has been connected and there are 444 flights connecting Peninsula Malaysia, Sarawak and Labuan to Sabah with a seat capacity about 75,000 weeklies.

The increase of domestic and foreign tourists to Sabah is a testament that Sabah has emerged as one of the top tourist destinations in Malaysia and well-recognised by international markets such as Chine, South Kore, Australia, Japan, Europe and United States.

With this collaboration and support MATTA believes it can bring success to the Fair and will continue to contribute to the growth of domestic and inbound tourism in our country. Through the Fair, MATTA continues to provide business opportunities for its members and meet the demand of the consumers.

MATTA Fair March 2019 is open from 10 am to 9 pm. Admission is RM4 per person and free for children aged below 12.
