CLASSIC CHRISTMAS FARE & CULTURAL FESTIVITIES FOR THE FAMILY
Kickstart the holiday season beginning Saturday, 9th December 2023 with a magical evening
filled with warmth and cheer at our Tree Lighting Ceremony, where guests can watch the
resort’s glimmering Christmas tree come to life.
Be immersed in local traditional festivities such as Pottery Painting, a hands-on workshop
where guests can learn to create and paint within the cherished craft, and partake in a Batik
Painting Workshop to discover an integral part of Malaysian culture, weaving intricate designs
on fabric and creating unique keepsakes for loved ones. For the adventurous, embark on A
Warrior’s Journey and unlock one of Malaysia’s best-kept secrets with the ancient martial art
of Silat Melayu, guided by the resort’s resident Silat Master. Ahead of Christmas Day, bask in
the festivities and get creative at a Weave Your Own Christmas Ornaments workshop, using
‘Rattan’ (solid timber vine) harvested from local rainforests and experience the art of basketry
weaving with Penan artisans from Borneo Malaysia.
Guests can uncover their inner culinary artists with an Artisan Chocolate Workshop, or dive
into the rich tapestry of Malaysian heritage by crafting local delicacies at a Local ‘Kuih’
Making class. Little pastry artists can also unleash their creativity at our Gingerbread House
Decorating session at the KidsOnly club, an interactive workshop for children to create seasonal
masterpieces adorned with festive frostings and holiday decorations to take home.
For one night only on December 24, 2023, savour an evening of traditional festive fare as
Christmas Eve Enchantments take over at Ambara, Hoshi and Dusky Monkey. Gather with
loved ones for a round of specially curated Christmas Eve Cocktails at Dusky Monkey as a
sumptuous feast awaits at Ambara, where field-to-fork dining is embraced, and Hoshi, which
serves only the season’s freshest and finest. Watch the chefs in action as they fill their kitchen
with Christmas favourites like Roasted Lamb Leg, Baked Duck and Rib Beef while enjoying a
local culinary experience at the Malaysian Lok Lok Station. The Christmas Eve Dinner at
One&Only Desaru Coast would not be complete without classic sweets – from Black Forest
Yule Log to Ginger Crème Brûlée and traditional Italian Panettone, resort guests will be spoiled
for choice with a spread of festive favourites crafted with a Malaysian twist.
A DAZZLING LINE-UP TO USHER IN THE NEW YEAR
Leading up to the new year, guests can experience a variety of inspiring offerings. From
Rejuvenate, Restore, and Revitalise spa offerings where tradition meets rejuvenation to the

participate in the New Year’s Eve Fun Run – an energising morning run by the pristine South

Celebrate in style at the New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner and Countdown Party, a dazzling
celebration filled with delectable offerings, captivating live entertainment, and a festive
ambience to match. Children can revel in their own exciting party with a curated New Year’s
Eve Gala Dinner Kids Menu, while adult guests indulge in a sumptuous feast of Western
delights; including the Salt Crusted Snapper and Seafood Paella, a fresh seafood bar with Fresh
Oysters, Caviar and Alaskan King Crab, a live carving station, a spread of Malaysian curries and
more. Countdown to 2024 at One&Only Desaru Coast, toasting to new beginnings as the skies
light up with a spectacular firework display at midnight, marking the start of a memorable year
ahead.
