Kuala Lumpur, 23 October 2020 More than 5,700 participants joined virtually as integrative health and wellness company, dōTERRA, celebrated its third anniversary in Malaysia. Unlike the previous years where large-scale offline events were organised, the company’s anniversary celebration this year was held virtually amid public safety concerns over the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country. “Earlier in the year, we had grand plans for a gala event in Kuala Lumpur but with COVID-19 becoming a major concern, we took the event online and celebrate virtually instead,” said Ethan Wang, General Manager of dōTERRA
Malaysia. Known for its firm commitment towards social impact outreach programmes, dōTERRA Malaysia highlighted some of its recent and ongoing community initiatives during the event.
“In May through the ‘EngageInGood’ campaign, we donated RM60,000 in light of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country—working with four local NGOs, namely Tenaganita, Refuge for the Refugees (RFTR), Dapur Jalanan KL, and Liga Rakyat Demokratik (LRD), to provide relief efforts catered to the affected and underprivileged communities.
“Besides that, we have also actively supported NGOs like the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) and Tenaganita, for various outreach efforts throughout the year. We are happy and proud to share that since 2018 till now, dōTERRA Malaysia has pledged over RM292,860 for our social outreach and community development initiatives,” said Wang. Wang also underlined the brand’s long-term commitment in empowering the local communities and supporting charitable organizations related to self- reliance, healthcare, education, sanitation and anti-human trafficking. “Our pledge and support for these causes go in tandem with our global practices under the dōTERRA Healing Hands FoundationTM.
“We are sponsoring the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) with a vehicle for their domestic usage. We are also kick-starting a new campaign to support TENAGANITA this month, hoping to raise another RM60,000 for the efforts of protecting and promoting the rights of women, migrants and refugees, and fighting against human trafficking,” he added.
Befitting of the company’s social impact and empowerment narrative, the theme for the anniversary this year was ‘Empower’, with dōTERRA looking to empower lifestyle, wellness, knowledge and change through its products, causes and contributions. “The key to our success in Malaysia lies in our firm belief in the power of
empowerment—encouraging and enabling shared prosperity and collective growth in our community,” Wang added. Founded in 2008, dōTERRA® International is an integrative health and wellness company and the world leader in the Global Aromatherapy and Essential Oils market. The company has been operating in Malaysia since 2017 and to date has over 32,000 members.
