23rd Asian Television Awards Successfully Promoting Sarawak To More Than 500 Million Global Viewers

On 13th January 2019, over 2,000 Sarawakians and 500 million global broadcast viewers experienced an array of powerful performance by SF9, Trong Hieu, Via Vallen, Qu Wan Ting, Alvin Chong, Gary Valenciano, Kiana Valenciano, Winnie K and Pinanak Sentah. This 3rd day public concert event held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), Sarawak is the first ever concert to be held at the Asian Television Awards (ATA).

SF9 (Sensational Feeling 9), a K-pop idol group had captivated the audiences with their top hits’ songs and fluid orchestrated dance movements. SF9 had a massive crowd of adoring fans who flew down to Kuching, Sarawak from all over Malaysia to show their love and support to the group during the concert. Their stage was truly the highlight of the night.

The public concert was hosted by former MTV Asia VJ Choy Wan together with Adrian Jalaludin who has been in the Malaysian entertainment industry for over a decade, with 10 of those years as a TV Host specializing in sports, travel, talk shows, and children. The concert was kicked-off by Pinanak Sentah, a Sarawak native band, whom focuses on experimental music with a mix of traditional and modern fusion. The multi-Award winner, Winnie K from Malaysia performed on stage at the 23rd Asian Television Awards Concert. She has been granted the “Asia Bagus Champion” at a very young age in Singapore and represented Malaysia during the Grand Championship in Tokyo, Japan.

The Indonesian dangdut singer, Via Vallen, who sang the theme song for the 2018 Asian Games, “Meraih Bintang”, also performed at the 23rd Asian Television Awards Concert. In addition to that, Trong Hieu, the winner of Vietnam Idol 2015, gave an amazing performance with his sensual voice and striking moves. Furthermore, Qu Wan Ting, the Chinese-born singer-songwriter and pianist who is now based in Vancouver, Canada, performed at the concert. Moreover, Alvin Chong (Malaysian) is a multi-talent multi-language singer performed his best songs during the concert. The concert finale was concluded by the iconic and legendary singer of Asia, Gary Valenciano and his daughter, Kiana Valenciano, from the Philippines. The father and daughter duo mesmerised Sarawakians and global viewers with their music.
