TOURISM EXHIBITION ENHANCES 3RD WORLD ISLAMIC TOURISM CONFERENCE

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 17 OCTOBER 2022: Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) launched its first-ever exhibition at the 3rd World Islamic Tourism Conference (WITC) today.

The exhibition is a new element added to complement this year’s WITC, Malaysia’s most celebrated Islamic Tourism event where more than 300 delegates from the tourism industry and beyond come together to discuss prevailing issues on economy, social, technology, culture and education in relation to the billion-dollar worth sector.

The three-day event features 80 booths, to showcase the diversity of Islamic Tourism products and services from Malaysia, along with international exhibitors, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Turkiye, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia and Russia. With the participation of Destination Marketing Organisations (DMOs), hotels that have received the Muslim-Friendly Accommodation Recognition from ITC, airline companies, travel agencies promoting Muslim-Friendly travel packages and Islamic cruises, tourism associations, spas, Higher-Learning Institutions (HLIs), Halal food and beverage operators, mosques, financial solution providers and media agencies, this tourism exhibition is set to attract the public and business visitors alike.

MOTAC and its agencies, the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA), Karyaneka, the National Museum, National Art Gallery and Tourism Malaysia are also here to present the uniqueness of Malaysia’s Islamic Tourism offerings from the perspective of culture, heritage, fashion, artefacts, and more. Non-MOTAC government agencies that include the People’s Trust Council or Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), National Co-operative Movement of Malaysia (Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad-ANGKASA), and Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) are also supporting the event as exhibitors. Other notable booths include Dewan Perniagaan Usahawan Kecil Malaysia (DPUKM), Turkish Airlines, Tourism Association of Sarajevo Canton, and the Uzbekistan Embassy.

The exhibition, and the 3rd WITC which was officiated by the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Haji Shukri are scheduled to run until the 19th of October 2022. It is free and open to the public. For more details, visit www.witc.gov.my.
